Artist Intro | Alison Sudol
Now based in London, Alison Sudol is an American singer-songwriter, musician, actress and video director. After teaching herself to play the piano, she began writing songs and sending her demo out to labels. Under the moniker A Fine Frenzy, Alison signed to Virgin Records and released three acclaimed albums, toured with Rufus Wainwright and opened for The Stooges at SXSW.
After “putting A Fine Frenzy to bed”, Alison made her television debut in the two-time Golden Globe winning Amazon series ‘Transparent’ In 2014 with Elle magazine praising her performance as one of "The 7 Most Exciting Newcomers on TV”. In 2016, Alison co-starred in ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’, the first in a series of five ‘Harry Potter’ prequel films written by J. K. Rowling, playing Queenie Goldstein, a role she reprised in the 2018 sequel ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’ and in the third instalment ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore’.
Making her comeback to music as Alison Sudol in 2018 she released two EPs, the ‘Moon’ and its follow up, ‘Moonlite’, both co-produced with Yard Act and Gruff Rhys’ producer Ali Chant, and featuring Portishead’s Clive Deamer and Adrian Utley and John Parish. In summer 2020 Alison wrote, co-produced and recorded her upcoming album with London based multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer Chris Hyson, who is also half of adventurous collective Snowpoet in Wales at Giant Wafer Studios.
Lending a human voice to nature, Alison's charity work and activism include serving as a Goodwill Ambassador for the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), she became Greenpeace’s first Antarctic Ambassador in 2018, boarding a Greenpeace ship heading for Antarctic waters to help make the case for an Antarctic Ocean Sanctuary.
