Known for it’s tradition of incredible bands, the Manchester music scene has spawned yet another top drawer group in Sea Fever.

The outfit is a five piece, fronted by Iwan Gronow (Haven, Johnny Marr) and joined by Bethany Cassidy (Section 25), Tom Chapman and Phil Cunningham (both of New Order) and Elliot Barlow, with additional drum duties on the record performed by New Order/Joy Division drummer Stephen Morris.

Formed in 2020, Iwan explains that their coming together as a unit felt inevitable: “We’d wanted to work with each other for ages, so when we finally sat down in the studio, the band just seemed to come together naturally.”

“It felt like we were really free to explore the kinds of music that have always inspired us,” says Tom, “we dug right through the record crates of our minds to shape the sound of Sea Fever.” Having already picked up early support from BBC 6 Music, the band are finishing up in the studio and have the album is set for a mid 2021 release, with debut single Crossed Wires dropping February.
