Introducing | ARTiSTRiSiNG
Kartel Music Group announce a new emerging artist marketing initiative called ARTiSTRiSiNG. The programme is designed to focus attention on four carefully selected independent artists with breakout potential. Consideration for the programme is tailored specifically to the independent environment and focuses on artists at the cusp of taking the next steps in their career. These are artists who have demonstrated exceptional creative entrepreneurship in forging a path to success.
The programme will give artists access to a range of priority services offered by Kartel Music Group including extensive use of the Kartel Marketing Agency (PR, Radio, Social, Digital Advertising and Creative) and international distribution and marketing network.
The programme will also see the launch of an ARTiSTRiSiNG Podcast series which will take a deeper look into the stories behind each of the artists as well as sharing insights and learnings.
Charles Kirby-Welch, Founder and CEO comments, “The objective with ARTiSTRiSiNG is to create a platform to nurture and develop a selection of artists who have caught our attention so that we may further amplify their potential to the wider industry. The opportunities and channels for artists to achieve success are now greater than ever. If we define success as realising a truly sustainable career in music the reality of achieving this comes with many challenges. Support from the right people at the right time is critical. ARTiSTRiSiNG is about identifying the moment artists are ready for that extra support to move forward in their careers.”
2022/3’s programme includes fours artists across four different genres; Martin Luke Brown, Yizzy, DAYTIME TV and Kédu Carlö.
Martin Luke Brown is signed to Kartel Music Group’s own label, AMK and has recently released his current single ‘grateful’, with early support coming from Radio 1 ‘Future Pop’, Hunger Magazine and Notion. A self taught multi instrumentalist since the age of 12, Martin grew up in Leicester, before moving to London for University aged 19. Following a major label deal, in 2017, Martin decided to take an indefinite break from his artist project and naturally transitioned into more of a collaborator - guiding other artists and helping them find their voice. Martin has had over 100 released songs as either a co-writer or a producer, including songs with BTS, Dylan, Jacob Banks, Gavin James, Greta Isaac, James Smith, Orla Gartland, Sody, Jack Kane, and many more. During the UK’s lockdowns, Martin refined his own artistry, leading to this new project - one that marks a significant new era in both his musical career and life. His debut album will be released through AMK next year.
Martin comments on being included in Kartel’s ARTiSTRiSiNG programme, "It's been a wacky few years aye, very gassed to finally be putting tunes out again and even more so that the lovely lot at kartel are on board for the ride, being signed to their label, AMK, and now being supported through their ARTiSTRiSiNG programme. Let's go!"
Yizzy is a South London rapper known as one of the UK's most talented and versatile lyricists, and still only 22 years of age. Having performed at Glastonbury and winning BBC Introducing awards at age 17 - he has continued to pioneer and push forward Grime as a genre, keeping it in the media spotlight consistently. Yizzy has accumulated millions of streams and views, widespread top tier media coverage, festivals and shows across the UK and Europe including supporting Billie Eilish and Ski Mask The Slump God on tour. His music has been used on global games such as Fifa 20 and UFC 4, and he has collaborated with UK legends such as Dizzee Rascal, JME, Devlin and Big Narstie. The South London MC has also developed his own independently run label, RTL.
Yizzy comments, “I’m very excited to be a part of the ARTiSTRiSiNG programme and grateful for the opportunity. I think the additional support will be invaluable especially as I prepare to roll out my next project. I’m really looking forward to seeing how everything comes together.”
Anglo-Scottish rock band Daytime TV are Will Irvine, Chris Clark, Gareth Thompson and John Caddick. Having recently supported The Amazons, The Wombats, Two Door Cinema Club and having featured at British Summer Time and Mad Cool summer festivals, plus being featured across both Spotify and Apple Music’s premium rock playlists, the impending rise of this British quartet feels somewhat inevitable. The product of a relentless hunger to create, the band are ready to step out with their spectacular stadium-ready sound. Their second album is due for release next year.
Daytime TV comment, “It feels like a big step that we’re ready to take. We’ve had a great year with some ticks off the bucket list, so we’re buzzing that Kartel have the same vision that we do and are ready to help us turn up the heat. Having spent some time with the team at Kartel, it’s clear that their experience and forward thinking are a perfect match for our ambitions as a band. They also happen to be some of the most genuine people we’ve met in the industry which also helps. Here we go!"
Kédu Carlö is the moniker of New Zealand based electronic producers, multi instrumentalists and songwriters Jess Penson and Carly Gill. With Jess on vocals and synths, Carly on drums and percussion, the duo crafts intricate electronic music with nods to Chicago house, acid, techno, electro and breaks. Their constantly evolving live set-up features an array of gear - from analogue synths to drum machines and sequencers, acoustic drums, Ableton and CDJs - the two long term friends have already made a name for themselves with their Ableton Live production tutorials in publications such as Attack Magazine. Punching into the NZ scene as tastemakers and one-to-watch creatives, their melodic experimentation and irreverent lyricism have firmly established them as one of the most sought after live electronic music acts.
Kédu Carlö comment, “We think it’s pretty damn cool to have Kartel behind us. It can be a hard fight just to create your art and get it out in the world, but reaching the people who would actually like to listen to it is a whole ’nother thing. Kartel’s support and expertise in this area is huge. To now also be supported through this new programme is honestly really humbling and a sigh of relief; where we can hone in on making the music the best it can be.”
